Construction Estimator – Full‑Time (North Modesto)

Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Location: North Modesto (Office: 5253 Jerusalem Ct., Suite A)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who understands the full spectrum of general construction, can confidently navigate plan rooms, communicate with subcontractors, and support our project pipeline from early budgeting through final proposals.

You will work directly from our North Modesto office with your own dedicated desk, computer, and all necessary software/tools. You’ll also utilize Valley Builders Exchange, Builders Connected, and our established subcontractor network to complete accurate takeoffs and competitive bids.

This position becomes full‑time permanent after the probation period, with benefits to follow.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans, specifications, addendums, and RFI responses

  • Navigate Valley Builders Exchange Plan Room and Builders Connected to track projects, download plans, and manage bid calendars

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across all trades (civil, structural, architectural, MEP, finishes, site work, etc.)

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes

  • Communicate with subcontractors, request pricing, and compare bids

  • Work with our existing subcontractor relationships and help expand our network

  • Assist with material ordering, vendor pricing, and procurement when needed

  • Support project managers with budgeting, scope reviews, and pre‑construction tasks

  • Maintain organized estimate files, bid logs, and project documentation

  • Attend internal meetings to review upcoming bids and workload

  • Help refine estimating templates, systems, and workflows

  • Provide support on job walks, site visits, and field coordination as needed

  • Contribute to a positive, team‑oriented office environment

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction estimating experience (required)

  • 2+ years of field experience in general construction (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of all scopes and trades — framing, concrete, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, finishes, site work, etc.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans

  • Experience with takeoff software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On‑Screen Takeoff, or similar)

  • Comfortable working with subcontractors, vendors, and clients

  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines

  • Proficiency with computers, email, spreadsheets, and digital plan rooms

  • Professional communication skills — written and verbal

  • Valid driver’s license for occasional site visits
