Job description: Estimator/Project Manager
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator / Project Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs and effectively managing construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This dual role is critical to ensuring profitability, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery within scope, time, and budget.
Our company specializes in underground utility construction, including the installation of water, sewer, and irrigation pipelines. Experience in this field is essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating Duties:
Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
Perform quantity take-offs and develop scopes of work.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Participate in bid meetings and prepare bid proposals.
Maintain cost history and develop unit cost databases.
Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions.
Project Management Duties:
Plan, schedule, and manage projects from pre-construction to close-out.
Lead pre-construction meetings with clients, subcontractors, and field crews.
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.
Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Monitor job progress, site productivity, and quality control.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and process change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation.
Communicate effectively with clients, inspectors, and internal teams.
Track costs and prepare project cost reports and forecasts.
Qualifications:
Experience as an Estimator and/or Project Manager in heavy civil or underground utility construction.
Proven experience estimating and managing water, sewer, and irrigation pipeline projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sharp, Bluebeam, or similar).
Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Products).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required, to be insurable.
